Master Battery participates in Telefónica's 14th Global Energy and Climate Change Workshop

Telefónica's Global Energy and Climate Change Workshop is the annual meeting point between the leaders of the company's energy transformation and the main collaborating companies in the field.

The theme chosen for the 2023 edition is "If we change, everything changes", #Everythingisconnected.

Telefónica has selected Master Battery to participate in the Infrastructure Panel of the 14th Global Energy Workshop on trends in batteries, clean energy and reduction of fuel consumption.

Juan Carlos Hernández, CEO of Master Battery, spoke about the latest developments in batteries and energy storage as well as the different alternatives in energy storage that can make surplus energy profitable. He stressed the need to innovate in storage to advance in the transition to renewables and achieve the full decarbonisation of cities.

Telefónica's Goal: Reduce global operational emissions by 90% by 2030

At the opening of the Global Energy and Climate Change Workshop, Telefónica stated that it has advanced its forecasts by achieving an 80% reduction in its operational emissions in 2022 and has set itself the target of reaching 90% by 2030.

Telefónica's Director of Environment and Human Rights, Maya Ormazabal, stressed that the objectives being set are feasible due to its "Climate Action Plan", the deployment of more efficient networks (fibre and 5G), the promotion of renewable energy and the reduction of emissions of fuels and refrigerant gases.

The main objective of the event is to take advantage of the opportunities that currently exist and encourage innovation to reduce Telefónica's energy consumption and carbon footprint globally. During the event, the latest energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives will be presented and shared. It will be a time for analysis and the setting of new challenges: the company's areas responsible for network infrastructure, finance, procurement and sustainability will be brought together.
