Master Battery provides the large-scale energy storage solution (BESS) for the decarbonisation of the YAINFE recycling plant in Torrejón de Velasco (Madrid)

  • The ‘Huella Cero YAINFE’ project will transform the approximately 50,000 m2 waste treatment plant in Torrejón de Velasco (Madrid) into a self-sufficient, zero-carbon facility, operating 24/7 and fully compliant with European Union regulations.
  • This facility, with an area equivalent to seven football pitches, receives, sorts, treats and recovers large volumes of waste from industry, construction, electrical and electronic equipment, and metals. Thanks to the incorporation of BESS systems, the plant will be energy efficient and sustainable.
  • The project is being developed by a business consortium formed by AMPER, ZENER Comunicaciones, YAINFE and MASTER BATTERY, and will become an innovative and replicable model for other energy-intensive industrial sectors involved in decarbonisation, energy efficiency and sustainability processes.

Madrid, 28 November 2025
Master Battery, a Spanish company specialising in comprehensive energy storage solutions, is positioning itself as one of the key players in the ‘Huella Cero YAINFE’ industrial project, an initiative that will transform the YAINFE Recycling plant into a zero-carbon infrastructure, with solar energy self-sufficiency and full compliance with European regulations.

The Spanish industrial and technological consortium is made up of AMPER, ZENER Comunicaciones, YAINFE and MASTER BATTERY, with the latter being responsible for the design, manufacture and warranty of the BESS energy storage system. This system will constitute the energy heart of the facility, ensuring stability, operational continuity and energy efficiency in a highly demanding industrial recycling environment.

The BESS system: the clean energy heart of the project
The BESS system supplied by Master Battery will have a power output of 10 MW and an approximate capacity of 20 MWh, enabling renewable energy to be stored, consumption to be optimised and uninterrupted operation of the plant to be guaranteed, even in the absence of an electricity grid.

Thanks to this solution, the YAINFE plant will become one of the first hybrid industrial infrastructures in Europe with true energy autonomy, efficiently integrating:

  • A 2 MWp photovoltaic solar plant.
  • A gasification system that will transform 5,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year into biofuel.
  • An advanced energy management and control system (EMS/SCADA).

Environmental impact and replicable industrial model
Master Battery's technological contribution will enable an estimated annual reduction of between 1,200 and 1,500 tonnes of CO2, reinforcing the strategic role of energy storage in the transition towards sustainable and circular industrial models.

The ‘Huella Cero YAINFE’ project is thus consolidating itself as a replicable success story in energy-intensive sectors — such as chemicals, food and metallurgy — where energy storage will be key to meeting European requirements for decarbonisation and industrial resilience.

Commitment to industrial energy transition
By participating in this project, Master Battery reinforces its position as a leader in BESS solutions for industrial applications, providing proprietary technology, specialised support and high-level guarantees that ensure the technical and economic viability of complex energy installations.

The approximate investment of €13 million in this first phase highlights the soundness of the project and the industrial sector's confidence in the strategic role of energy storage in the future of European industry.

Distribution of areas of activity within the consortium

  • AMPER: overall project coordination; development of the advanced management system (EMS/SCADA) and digitalisation 5.0; supply of BESS engineering and technology; and responsibility for the Genset system.
  • GRUPO ZENER: engineering and installation of the photovoltaic plant; installation of the BESS system and the Genset system.
  • MASTER BATTERY: manufacture of BESS technology, specialised technical support and system warranty.
  • YAINFE Recycling: plant operation, gasification process and industrial project management.
